The GAR used the second floor was used for its reunions and veteran's services.
The War of 1812 cannon on the lawn was relocated in 1924 to the Civil War veterans memorial lot in Grove Cemetery. In its place, the G. A. R. erected a 17-foot tall monument made from Lincolnville granite, inscribed to "The Boys of 1861 - 1865."
