Show Details
The Allen building housed Allen's law firm, the bank, and Presque Isle's first official post office. Allen served in the Civil War as did James Phair, Presque Isle's first Postmaster. Both men are visible in this photograph. Allen can be seen in the second floor window on the right. Phair, who had also been a hotelier, Sheriff, Captain of the Fire Department, and Town Fire Warden is seen in front center in a suit with a watch fob.
