Image Info This view from the roof of the Custom House in Rockland is looking east. The tall building with a mansard roof partially visible on the right is the Pillsbury Block on the corner of Main Street and School Street. The frame building across School Street is the Spofford Block, and next to it on the left is the edge of the Berry Block. Across Main Street from these buildings stand the Wilson & White Block, home of the Rockland Opinion newspaper, on the left, and the taller Thorndike Hotel to its right. Behind the Thorndike Hotel one can see houses on Crockett's Point projecting into the Rockland Harbor, and on the horizon is Owls Head. There are schooners in the harbor.
