Image Info The most devastating fire in Rumford's history occurred on Waldo Street on August 2, 1923. Though it lasted only six hours, it required fire departments from four towns to put out, and demolished 28 buildings, left 300 families with a total of 700 persons homeless, and cost $500,000 in damages.
