A chapel bell associated with Jesuit missionary Father Sebastien Rasles, killed in 1724 during a British, Massachusetts militia and Mowhawk raid on an Abenaki village at Norridgewock. The mascare at Norridgewock was a pivotal point during Dummer's War (1722-1725) also known as Father Rale's War, Lovewell's War, or the Fourth Anglo-Abenaki War.

Reportedly, the bell was hidden after the battle, and found under a decayed hemlock in 1808. It was given to Maine Historical Society by Joseph Weare around 1822, the year of MHS' founding.

Sebastien Rasles (1657-1724) also spelled Sebastian Rale or Rales, was a Jesuit priest living and working with Indigenous communities during the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
