The Benoit Company had clothing stores in Westbrook, Biddeford, Lewiston, Brunswick, Ogunquit and Portland.
Founder Arthur Henri Benoit was born in St. Dominiqe, Quebec. His family moved to Biddeford where he worked in the textile mills for C.H. Webber.
He joined as a partner with C.H. Webber at a new Westbrook store in 1890 and became full owner of the A.H. Benoit Company soon after with the largest men's clothing stores in Maine ca. 1915.
