Image Info Colonel Albert Beliveau, Department Commander of American Legion speaks at the World War Memorial dedication on November 11, 1924. Additional guests of honor included Governor Percival P. Baxter; President of Maine Senate, Frank G. Farrington; and Chairman Committee of Veterans General, Albert Greenlaw. The memorial was located at the approach of the inter-state bridge between Kittery and Portsmouth N.H..

After the speaking events, a luncheon was held for the guests of honor. When the guests finished dining they were invited by the bridge's engineer, Walter Henry Norris to accompany him to the 220 foot bridge tower, where they enjoyed panoramic views of Maine and New Hampshire.
