Luella Harmon, the daughter of Portland penmanship developer Horace W. Shaylor Sr. and Augusta Shaylor, had a summer home in Bass Rocks, Massachusetts. She was married to Harry True Harmon and they had one daughter, Virginia.

Mrs. Harmon was an artist who lived in Portland. Her expertise was painting miniatures, however she also worked with watercolors and sculpture.
