Image Info ‘Pop’ DeVito’s Motel and Cottages was one of many hotels catering to the growing number of summer tourists in Wells Beach, Maine throughout the 20th century. ‘Pop’ Devito’s offered accommodations in a main building and cottages for two to ten people from June through October in Wells Beach at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and DeVito Street. Advertisements emphasized that the motel was 150 feet from the beach and was host to “‘Pop’s’ Famous Shell Shack” featuring shells from all over the world.
