There were two dormitory complexes for female students on the women's side of the campus. The first, built in 1942, was Low and Coburn Halls, named after Colby's first female graduate and first female trustee, respectively. The second, built in 1952, was Woodman and Foss Halls. The name for Foss Hall was taken from the old campus, while Woodman was named after Eleanor B. Woodman, a donor of the college.

The Women's Union consisted of a gymnasium, sorority rooms and facilities for the arts. It was renamed after Ninetta M. Runnals (class of 1908) in 1959. Runnals was the dean of women for 27 years and helped raise $100,000 for the building.
