Image Info

The Cliff Country Club sat next to the Cliff House Hotel atop Bald Head Cliff and was incorporated in 1919. It originated from the plans of John Pickering, who sought to build a golf course on his Cape Neddick estate and wanted to increase its size as popularity expanded. The expansion to an 18-hole golf course was overseen by golf architect Donald Ross and completed in 1925, attracting both locals and summer tourists in Ogunquit.

The caption reads, "Cliff Country Club, 5th Fairway and Club House, Ogunquit, Maine."

The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1938.
