Booth Tarkington was a novelist about life in the Middle West and won two Pulitzer Prizes. Born in Indianapolis, he built an estate, "Seawood," on South Maine Street in Kennebunkport where he and his wife lived from May through December each year. The amenities of the house included a schooner, "Regina," and “The Floats,” a boathouse. The boathouse became the Kennebunkport Maritime Museum/Gallery. The house was built in 1917 and was a Neo-Classical Revival, 2 stories, with gabled roof and pedimented two-story portico. Frederick Wallick, architect.
