Show Details
The school opened in 1903. The town bought the closed St. John's Episcopal Secondary School for Boys and offered the buildings and the land to the state for a normal school.
The school received junior college status in 1947 and adopted a four-year curriculum in 1950. The name changed to Aroostook State Teachers College in 1952 and to Aroostook State College in 1965.
It became the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 1970.
