Image Info Green Acre attracted dignified visitors, philosophers and religionists to lecture and discuss concepts of a spiritual nature during the 1890s through to the present. This photograph shows from left to right: Swami Vivekananda, Sarah Farmer, M.H. Gulesian of Armenia and Edward Everett Hale. Vivekananda was a Hindu who taught that all religions lead to one God, Sarah was director of Green Acre and later became a Baha'i, Edward Everett Hale was author and minister and promoted the Chautauqua circles among other things. Here they are beside the Great Tent at Green Acre in Eliot, Maine. 1894.
