On December 13, 1901, Waterville High School held a ceremony to celebrate the students receiving "Honorary Parts" from the school. The event included readings from students of their own essays and orations of famous writings as well as musical interludes. Public speaking was a valued skill for high school students at the time and many such exhibitions were held throughout the school year.
