Three bridges span the Kennebec River between Waterville and Winslow. The middle one, pictured here, is for railroad traffic and was first built in 1854. While the river and its roaring waters had once split the two towns from each other, the bridges allowed for ease of travel across the water. The Maine Central Railroad utilized this bridge, bringing trains to and from the hub of rail travel for central and northern Maine.
