Image Info In the early 1900s, Green Acre Inn hosted visitors and dignitaries to discuss religious and spiritual subjects in order to promote world peace, under the direction of Miss Sarah Farmer. 'Abdu'l-Baha, son of Baha'u'llah the Prophet-Founder of the Baha'i Faith, came to Green Acre in August of 1912. Miss Farmer had visited 'Abdu'l-Baha in Palestine a few years earlier and became a Baha'i.

'Abdu'l-Baha spoke of the unity of all mankind and the nature of the spirit. Residents of Eliot and visitors to Green Acre from out-of-state were welcomed to attend these talks.
Later in its history, Green Acre in Eliot served as the National Center for the Baha'is in the United States and Canada.
