The Portland Company, which began as a builder of steam locomotives, created a parade float that demonstrates its many products and functions.

The float, parked at the Portland Company headquarters on Fore Street, features the label "Builders of Steam Vessels," and is decorated with bells, lights, gears, wheels, and various fittings.

The float also notes the company's many products: locomotive, marine and stationary engines; car wheels, shafting, gearing, boilers, and castings.
