The Good Will-Hinckley campus fire truck as it appeared around 1940. Good Will boys were assigned to keep the stove going in the campus's small fire house to keep the fire engine's fuel from freezing.

One former Good Will boy recalled when he and a friend were assigned to keep the fire going and a coal from the stove fell out and started a small fire. In an effort to keep the fire engine from burning his friend jumped on it, started it up and promptly backed it straight through the closed doors of the fire house. Well, the boy put out the fire, ran out to find some wood and repaired the door, never telling any of the Good Will staff what had happened. Years later, when visiting the campus after graduating, he ran into Walter Price, the farm manager, who said to him: "You did a heck of a job fixing the doors on that fire house!"
