"Camarge" was one of the dresses for the 1933-34 fashion season from Paris. The drawing was sent, along with several others, to a potential customer.

American women looked to Paris for all that was fashionable, even though American fashion had come into its own after World War I. Women of means sometimes ordered clothing directly from Paris, after receiving hand-drawn illustrations sent by designers from whom they had purchased clothing in the past.

Mildred Burrage of Kennebunkport had a number of line drawings of Paris fashions among her possessions. Some were addressed to "Mrs. Huntington" and a note among the drawings suggested they were to be passed on to "Lillian Sylvester."

Mrs. Huntington, probably a summer resident of Prouts Neck, ordered dresses from Paris fashion houses, especially Christiane.
