Image Info This is the doorway into the Wadsworth-Longfellow House on Congress Street in Portland. The structure was built by Peleg Wadsworth in 1785-1786 and later occupied by his daughter, Zilpah, and her husband, Stephen Longfellow, and their children.

Anne Longfellow Pierce donated the house and grounds to Maine Historical Society in 1901 as a memorial to her brother, the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
