Image Info Debris in downtown Old Orchard Beach on October 4, 1948 from damage from the fire the day before. The entire block of the amusement area, known as Palace Playland, was destroyed. The wooden roller coaster, the Old Mill ride, two game concessions, two summer cottages and two bathhouses were destroyed.
