Image Info "Maison Provinciale, Academie Marie-Joseph," Biddeford Pool, circa 1950. This is the front entrance to the Marie-Joseph Academy, which years before had been a hotel and then was purchased by the Order of the Presentation of Mary to create a school for girls in elementary and high school. This was the third Catholic girls' school in Biddeford; it was preceded by St. Joseph's and St. Andre's Schools, which were both located in Biddeford proper. Marie-Joseph Academy, however, was the only girls' school offering room and board.
