Image Info Walter Hustus (1921-1999) was a B-17 tailgunner during WW II. His B17 was shot down on a bombing run to Oranienburg, Germany, on April 18, 1944.

After his capture, he spent time in solitary confinement, then thirteen months in the POW camp Stalag 17B. He made it back home to Maine on June 14, 1945.
