Image Info Adelaide Gehrig at left and Alice Glienke, both of New York, were US fencing champions in the 1920s. Both fenced for the New York Turn Verein.

Gehrig competed in the first Olympics open to women in 1924.
They were on a two-week hiking vacation in New England and planned to visit Bar Harbor and Poland Spring.
