Image Info John David Clifford Jr. (1887-1956), a native of Lewiston, graduated from Bowdoin College and studied law, setting up a practice in Lewiston.

He served in the Maine House of Representatives in 1914-1915 and was U.S. Attorney for the District of Maine from 1933 to 1947, when he became a judge on the U.S. District Court for the district of Maine, a post he held until his death.
