Written on mat is "Hood removed at time Navy took over for officers club."
John Calvin Stevens and John Howard Stevens designed the house between 1906-1907. This home was built in the Colonial Revival style.
John Howard Stevens said of this house, "...one of the best examples of the Colonial style, being very satisfactory in its proportions and detail, and yet not a historical copy of an old house, but a new creation of the same style with the sure feeling that is evident in the best of old Colonial work."
