Image Info The Saco River in freshet time, the water pouring strongly over the mill dam. The former Laconia Mills, which became the Laconia Division of the Pepperell Mills, can be seen on the left bank of the river. The Saco-Lowell Shops were situated just up the bank. A corner of the Bates Mill on the Saco side of the river is visible at right, along with the top of a canal opening in the foundation.
