Float advertising Swift and Company products sit in front of home at corner of Mason and Elm Streets, Biddeford, during tercentenary celebration parade. The horse drawn wagon displays their advertising symbols, and signs of their products like Swift's Hams, Pride washing soap, and Borax laundry powder. The parade took place September 16, 1916.

Biddeford's initial European population resided in Biddeford Pool over the winter of 1616-1617, to prove that the area was habitable year-round. The first permanent colonists settled in 1630.
