Image Info This view is from about in front of the Saco Post Office looking towards Factory Island. The low white building in the left rear was the office of the Express Company. The Boston and Maine Railroad (Western Division) had not then been built. The church steeple in the extreme background is believed to be that of the Methodist Church in Biddeford, which was then located where the Central Theatre now stands on Alfred Street. Several business signs are visible: C. Twombley and Son and a Woolens, Hats and Furs in the background.
