Image Info The Ground Observer Corp, sponsored by the U. S. Air Force, was in effect during WW II and after. Its purpose was to monitor the movement of airplanes. Ordinary citizens would volunteer and watch for air traffic along the coast. This observation post was located in the Dunstan area atop of Edgar Thurston's garage.
