Image Info According to the book "200 Years of Lubec History 1776 - 1976," this was the first church building in Lubec, completed on August 17, 1820 on Church Street. The original spire was 125 ½ feet high, but is known to have been destroyed by the Saxby Gale of 1869 and replaced by a shorter steeple. The church remains in regular use as of 2010. This image appears to be an amateur or local photographer’s postcard, probably a contact print from a 116 or 616 roll film size negative onto the postcard format printing paper then popular. The used postcard is postmarked October 23, 1930.
