Probably built between 1780 and 1790, this large home was located on the right side of Pierson's Lane. The view is from Water Street toward Bacon. This house stands on the site of the garrison house that was destroyed by Indians in the 1670s. About 100 years later this house was built. It was the home of Jere Hill who was born in Biddeford in 1747, entered Harvard in 1767, and who married Mary Emery of Biddeford in 1772. Jere Hill was a captain in the army during the American Revolution. He died in 1820 and this house was then bought by Samuel Pierson who lived here until his death in 1852. Samuel Pierson, who shared his February 22nd, 1759 birthday with George Washington, also served as a clerk to General Washington during the siege of Boston.
