"A Fair Exchange" was one of a number of posters the Suffrage Referendum League of Maine published in 1917 to encourage a "yes" vote on a constitutional amendment to allow Maine women to vote.
The election was held Sept. 10, 1917. The amendment was defeated.
The artist is William Ourcadie, pseudonym for Frederic W. Freeman.
