Image Info The corner of Commercial Street and Pleasant Street, the latter entering from the right, formed the prime entrance to Lubec’s business district on Water Street. The street and walkway down to the left leads to the steamship and ferry wharfs. All the buildings on the left are gone, replaced by a steep grassy slope down to a parking area. The nearest building on the right side of Commercial Street still exists as of 2010.
Show Details
Rounding the farthest building to the right places the visitor to the Centennial celebration on Water Street, elaborately festooned for the event. Note the concrete pedestals supporting each side of the entrance archway. The pedestal on the right still exists as of 2010, pushed off the street adjacent to the left side of the fire hydrant. This later hydrant is a replacement casting, but in the same location.
