Image Info For many years Water Street in Lubec led to the Campobello Island auto ferry, which became defunct on opening of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial bridge in August, 1962. With the old steamship and Lubec-Eastport-Campobello ferry wharves nearby, U.S. Customs long occupied a portion of the Staples building on the far right. The two small buildings were the office and warehouse for Seaport Navigation. The small island, known as Pope’s Folly, is in Johnson Bay.
