The soldiers were guarding a Grand Trunk Railroad bridge in Dunn's Corner, North Yarmouth, to preserve access to Canada by rail in case the ports were bombed.
Soldiers are, from left, Pvt. Harding Moore of North Carolina (obscured by steering wheel), Sgt. McArthur Stafford of New York, Pvt. Howard Stringfellow of Louisiana, Pvt. Florentino Lopez of New York, Henry G. Roberts of New York, Robert A. Stephens of New York, and Charles E. Rountree of Baltimore.
The photo was taken in July 1942.
