Image Info Metal piece of a plug bayonet that separated the blade from the handle excavated at Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site. Very rare in the U.S., plug bayonets were inserted directly into the barrel of a firelock or flintlock musket rather than attached to the outside of the barrel.
