The tannery had burned when the photograph was made. The building is fifth hatchery building with uncovered rearing pools. Behind the hatchery building is a store that was owned by Elsmore. Across from that store is Sutherland store.
The houses seen are on Water Street, Main Street, and Back Street, later known as Tan Bark Street.
