Image Info The interior of the Maine State Building at Poland Spring, showing the second and third story balconies.
Show Details
The building was constructed to showcase Maine materials -- granite, slate and wood -- and products for the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. It was moved to Poland Spring in 1894 and reconstructed on the grounds of the resort.
The third floor was used as an art gallery under the direction of Nettie Ricker where artists around the country and the world exhibited their work.
