Image Info On May 3, 1923, the eastern portion of the Bangor Railway and Electric Company's storage dam gave way, sending down a wall of water that carried away several of the town's structures.

No one was killed owing to an early fire alarm warning and the dam being located three and one-half miles from Ellsworth's town center.
