This room is known as the Sitting Room Chamber as well as the guest room in the Wadsworth-Longfellow House on Congress Street in Portland.

The house was built by Peleg Wadsworth in 1785-1786. His daughter Zilpah and her husband, Stephen Longfellow, raised their children in the house.

Though set aside especially for guests during their visits, this room was used by family members as well. The high-post bedstead is attributed to a Portland cabinet shop.
