Image Info This photograph was taken in Biddeford on Factory Island during the construction of the Boiler House for Saco-Pettee. Saco-Pettee was a producer of high quality textile machinery beginning in the 1880s. In 1912 Saco-Pettee merged with the Lowell Machine Shop creating the Saco-Lowell Shops. The Saco-Lowell Shops became the largest textile machinery company in the country. Saco-Lowell is still in operation today in South Carolina.
