Image Info

This table is traditionally believed to have descended from the Sir William Pepperrell (1696-1759) family through the Gerrish family of Kittery Point. Pepperrell's wife, Lady Mary (Hirst) Pepperrell (c. 1703-1789) 1790 inventory lists a "large black walnut oval Table". Made in Boston.

Black walnut with white pine drawers. Turned gateleg construction creates oval table when deep leaves are opened. 8 sausage turned legs (4 regular legs and 4 gatelegs). 10 sausage turned stretchers (6 regular, 4 on gateleg). 2 drawers with brass pulls, one on each short end of table. Ball feet. Painted dark brown.
