Image Info

The Pride of Detroit is shown on Old Orchard Beach before its successful transatlantic hop, August 27, 1927.

The Stinson monoplane, with pilots William Brock and Ed F. Schlee, flew to Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, then went on to England, and proceeded to Japan, attempting a round-the-world flight.

They aborted the trip in Japan due to weather and pressure from officials because of recent airplane losses.
