Image Info The City Hotel, owned by J.W. Robinson & Son, at the corner of Congress and Green streets, in Portland. Green Street later became Forest Avenue.

The hotel was built in 1830 and originally called the New England House.
It was demolished in 1894 and the Congress Square Hotel was built at the site.
