Image Info Hopalong Cassidy is a character created by a long-time Fryeburg resident and author, Clarence E. Mulford. Mulford began writing books about Cassidy and his adventures in the early 1900s. Mulford's books soon became so popular that they became a famous TV series as well as a full-length feature film.
