Image Info This Polaroid documents the demolition of Union Station in Portland in August 1961. The station, which opened in June 1888, served as a hub for several railroads but declined in popularity after World War II with the rise of automobile travel. Its demolition served as inspiration for the creation of Greater Portland Landmarks.
