John Joy (1809-1878) used this lyre, designed for a clarinet, to lead the Baptist Church choir in South Limington. The lyre, a two-piece music holder, included one piece with a spring that pressed against the other to secure the music and also featured a cylindrical piece with threads at the bottom.
