The SS Cornelia H. ferry, which operated between Portland and Cape Elizabeth, was photographed docked at Long Wharf, Portland, in 1887.

Operated by The People's Ferry Company, the Cornelia H.was the first double-ended steam ferry in the line. Built in Bath in 1885, the Cornelia H ferried passengers and horse-drawn carriages between Portland and Ferry Village (now South Portland), for seven years, before she burned. The Cornelia H's route was eventually taken up by the S.S. Elizabeth City in 1893.
